There are many types of terrific pets. Mammals and reptiles are my favorites. Today I’m going to tell you about the different species and how each has it’s own positives and negatives. We will be talking about the basics on mammals and reptiles and a bit of caring for them. Mammals include: dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and ferrets. Reptiles include: snakes, lizards, chameleons, turtles, iguanas and geckos.
The first thing I am going to tell you about is mammals. What makes mammals mammals is that they have hair or fur. They also give live birth. Warm blooded means that they keep a constant body temperature. Thats what mammals do. If not kept steady they can get sick with a fever or cold; then they will have to go to the vet. Every pet has emotion even if you can’t see it its there. But the ones who show the most visible emotion is mammals. Like when you just get home and your dog comes up and is stepping on your feet he’s saying “Oh your home!! Sweet lets go play fetch or something!!” Not all animals show as much emotion as other but it still there. Mammals are also commonly taken on walks. Most people are afraid of things with slime or scales, but not so much with furry fluffy things like rabbits and cats. and normal people will shut out and reject snakes and turtles which is completely rude. All animals should be accepted and loved even if they are a little ugly. Its not their fault. Mammals are seen more too. Reptiles will hide out in their huts while mammals need more human attention. Dogs like a good belly rub while cats like good scratch. Mammals live shorter lives which is sad because after a while they become a whole other half of our life. Mammals have canned or bagged food they do not like insects but some dogs like to eat grass. Like cows.
Ok this is the second thing I am going to talk about is reptiles. Reptiles are normally slimy or scaly. Reptiles lay eggs unlike mammals. Reptiles are cold blooded, which means that if the temperature in their home 50 degrees the animal is 50 degrees. If the animal is that temperature it would die of hypothermia. That is why reptiles like a warm environment. Reptile show less visible emotion when you get home a reptile is saying, “Oh yay.. your home.. meh. I don’t really care a whole lot, but I still love you. Human.” Reptiles are not commonly taken on walks outside. Yes, they are let out of their cage with their human companions watching but not let outside often or at all. The first thing people think about with reptiles is: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE ITS A GARTER SNAKE ITS GOING TO KILL ME!!!!
In real life it is impossible for a garter snake to kill you, it can injure you but not kill you. The point is lots of people neglect slime and scales which is very rude. Reptiles will hide out in a hut or burrow or sleep most of it day it will arouse for food and water. Sorry to say it but reptiles live longer. On average a reptile lives 20-30 years with proper care, and a mammal lives at least 15 years with proper care. Reptiles eat live food such as: crickets, meal worms and cockroaches.
Both animals have stuff in common like, duh they are both animals with eyes. They are both amazing to have. Both animals can do tricks mammals are a little bit easier to train and more commonly taught tricks, but reptiles can still do them too with proper training. And finally, they each have toys but they are different. A dog likes a chew toy while a lizard may like his cave. Thank you for reading!
